Bulldogs serve against Glendive in home meet

Hardin Bulldog tennis teams hosted Glendive at home last Thursday with the boys taking home a win in their first game and playing to a tie in their second. The girls lost both matches to the Lady Red Devils.

The boys took the first game 5-3 and went 4-4 in the second. The girls lost 1-7 and 3-5.

“I’m incredibly happy with the boys,” said Head Coach Mike Flamm. “Our middle and bottom players are strong.”

While the girls did lose, Flamm noted some bright spots: “Brittney Schaff is starting to get her swing back and Naumie DuShane is coming into her own.”

In boys action, Hardin’s No. 1 singles player Michael Neeser won in three sets for the first game: 7-6(0), 1-6 and 7-5.

“Neeser really impressed me,” said Flamm. “He won against a kid who went to state last year.”

Freshman Jonathan Noteboom, Hardin’s No. 4 player, also gained the Bulldogs a victory, winning in two sets: 6-0, 6-4.

In doubles action, the Bulldogs took three of the four matches with the duo of Jae Hugs and David Evan winning in three sets: 7-5, 4-6, (7-4). Charles Storey and Klay Wacker won in two sets 6-1, 7-6(2) and Ricky Hill/Matthew Bush won 6-1, 6-2.

In the second game, Storey, Hardin’s No. 4 singles player gave the Bulldogs an 8-6 win.

In doubles play, Codi Small and Evans gave Hardin an 8-5 victory, the duo of Wacker and Hill won 8-3, and Bush and Noteboom won 8-4.

“The boys are pretty loaded up this year,” said Flamm. “I like our chances. They are getting better and better.”

In girl’s action, the girls won one match with DuShane, in singles play, taking both sets: 6-0, 6-1. In the second game, the Lady Bulldogs fared better, winning three of eight matches.

In singles play, Maddie Flamm won 8-5; in doubles play the duo of Lisa Cai and Imani Kindness won 8-6, and Katie Murdock and Tyra Red Wolf won 8-1.

This week, Hardin’s varsity team will be traveling to Cut Bank for their invite and the junior varsity will be playing at home against Cody and Sheridan, Wyo.
