Hardin cross-country teams place in top five at Lewistown Invitational
Compared to their home invitational blowout, overall scores for Hardin’s cross-country teams lost ground, although teams placed as high as second in Saturday’s Lewistown Invitational.
With more than 10 schools participating in the event and a season that is nearly at its halfway point, competition levels continues to increase.
Hardin boys varsity finished in fourth place behind Skyview, Senior and Laurel. Leading the boys was Anton Rides Horse, who finished third in the event’s top 10 boys’ individual scores with a run-time of 17:23, two seconds behind second place Ethan Wilson of Senior.
Hardin’s Trajan Hill finished 14th followed by David Prather in 23rd, Kevin Vallie in 26th, Toshiki Honda in 39th, Austin Monroy in 43rd and Aaron Birdinground in 46th.
Junior varsity boys finished fifth place with LaQuan Yellowtail leading the pack in 27th, followed by Norman Dawes in 30th, Mykal Grant in 33rd, Michael Parra in 37th, Kirby Simpson in 41st, Colter Redden in 63rd, Dom Stevens in 70th, Aubrey Black Eagle in 73rd and Antawn Not Afraid in 90th.
In girls varsity, Hardin finished in second place overall behind class AA Billings Senior. Mei Li Stevens led the pack, finishing fifth in the girl’s top-10 with a run-time of 20:53, 20 seconds behind fourth place Kadia Miller of Havre. Hardin’s Charlie Bellrock also finished in the girls’ varsity top 10 in 10th place with her time of 21:24.
Following Bellrock was Journey Erickson, 13th at 22:11; Guan Yin Stevens, 21st at 23:34; Johnice Half, 27th at 23:59; and Naumie DuShane, 36th at 24:47.
JV girls also took second place behind class AA Billings Senior. Hardin’s Michelle Wall won the JV meet with a time of 23:08. Kyrstyn Price, who finished second at 23:27, followed Wall.
In 19th place was Karissa DuShane, followed by Shaelynn Walksoverice in 22nd and Latisha Nota Afraid in 23rd.
The Missoula MT West Cross-Country Invitational is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24.
