The Hardin Bulldogs golf team added two more varsity players on Friday, giving them a four-person lineup for the first time this season. In golf, a full team complement is five people with the top four counted for the score.
For the boys’ team, Hardin had a score of 440.
Leading the boys was Darnell Lefthand who shot a 94. Lefthand shot a 49 on the front nine and a 45 out back.
Head Coach Linda McClanahan said, “Lefthand shot his best game so far this year. He’s working hard and making progress.”
McClanahan pointed out that Lefthand golfs in Eastern A, the toughest conference in the state.
Coming in second for the Bulldogs was varsity newcomer Jonathan Noteboom, who stroked his way to a 108. Noteboom shot a 53 on the front nine and a 55 out back for his 108.
Third for Hardin was Adam Tillman, who shot a 64 on the front nine, dropped his number of strokes on the back by 10 for a score of 54, shooting a 118. Fourth for the Bulldogs was Kolin Cannon with a 122. Cannon shot a 55 on the front nine, but struggled on the back scoring 67 for a 122.
Hardin’s only varsity female golfer, Sadye Small, shot a 113 with a 59 on the front nine and dropped five strokes on the back for a 54. Small placed 14th overall in the tournament.
This upcoming week, Small will be joined by Hailey Cannon as the second member of Hardin’s girls’ team.
All six will see varsity action this weekend.
“They need to improve their consistency,” said McClanahan. “Each kid knows their own weaknesses.”
According to McClanahan, they need to play the course, not their opponents. They need to keep working hard and getting better.
This Friday, Hardin will be traveling to Glendive on Friday and Sidney on Saturday for their invites.
