Help Every Pet requests donations for local food drive

Letter to the Editor

Winter in Montana is a tough time for strays that have no source of food and those left to forage have trouble finding it.

To that end, Help Every Pet of Hardin is holding a food drive for dog and cat food that began this week. There are a lot of strays they are currently working on by not only providing food and water, but fixing, vaccinating and finding homes for these animals.

In particular, stray cats have become a real problem in Hardin. Help Every Pet has been vital in helping fix, vaccinate, and adopt out several of these cats, all the while providing food until they can be trapped. Feral cats have been trapped and fixed to help stem overpopulation of these strays.

Help Every Pet needs your help in the form of cat and dog food donations. In the past, the Fill-A-Ford food drive was successful in helping them to provide food for not only strays, but people who are having a tough time making ends meet and needing help with food.

Donations of dog and puppy food, cat and kitten food, and kitty litter will be accepted at Bob Smith Ford dealership. Sheets, towels and blankets also will be accepted.
