Plethora of library options explored

Literary Junction
Winter blues hanging on? Are you down and depressed? Did your wife dent your hunting truck? Well, if so, the Big Horn County Library could be just what you’re looking for.

At the Big Horn County Library, we have a plethora of entertaining books that are sure to help lift you out of your winter doldrums.

Are you interested in a romance novel? Danielle Steele or Nora Roberts are sure to make the most callous among us blush knowingly. Or perhaps action adventure is more your style. Daniel Silva, Lee Child or James Patterson could be just what you need. Westerns? We have a very wide selection of Louis L’Amour, Zane Grey or Terry C. Johnston. Try picking up a book by one of these authors and use your imagination to escape temporarily into a world of their creation.

We also have a whole floor dedicated to non-fiction subjects such as history, science, religion, entertainment, cooking or do-it-yourself projects. No matter what you enjoy, we most likely have a book that will hold your attention even through the worst of winter blizzards.

Now, I have stubbornly avoided mentioning the fact that we also have DVD’s in the library because, in my narrow mind, a library is a place to find books, not movies. Sadly, many would rather sit down to watch a movie instead of reading a book. More’s the pity.

That being said, we do have a very large selection of movies available for check out. They are separated by rating or genre. Some are newer releases that are, in fact, quite good.

I would also like to put in a plug for one particular section of DVD’s we have here, and that is nonfiction. In this section you will find anything from historical documentaries to a comedian’s stage show. Now, while this particular genre is not as popular among our patrons, I will tell you that it’s worth a look. Being a history nerd, I find those documentaries particularly interesting, but one can find many other topics of interest such as hunting, current social issues, UFO’s, religion and more. I suspect most of us like to watch movies of one sort or another, and that is precisely why we have them, but I would encourage you to also check out this wonderful selection of non-fiction DVD’s.

For those winter bunnies out there that like chilly weather, enjoy it while it is still stubbornly hanging on. But for those who are not as enamored with the snow and cold, consider coming into the library and seeing what’s available to brighten the dreariest of days.
