Doris Red Wolf-Old Coyote

Doris Red Wolf-Old Coyote, 78, of Billings passed away Sept. 15, 2017.
She was born Jan. 17, 1939 in Crow Agency, a daughter of Julia Little Nest and Charles Red Wolf. She grew up in Wyola and attended elementary school at Pretty Eagle School and graduated from St. Labre High School. Doris lived in the Wyola area, but moved to the Ranchester, Wyo. area in order to provide her children with good educational opportunities. She was a stay-at- home-mom and always put her children’s needs first.
Doris loved horses and the desert, and enjoyed a good “Spaghetti Western.” She always wanted to visit Mexico.
She was a wonderful cook, making her meals from “scratch.” Her many talents included drawing, sewing, beading and working crossword puzzles. She spent many hours tending her plants. She was an avid reader and collected Louis L’Amour books. Her favorite animal was the wolf and she enjoyed collecting all things with wolves.
Doris had an amazing sense of humor and often surprised her family with her wit. She loved all family members, equally seeing all of them as blessings in her life. She was a humble person, believed in unity among all races, and hoped for a world without hate or disapproval of any individual. She taught her children to forgive and not hold grudges against anyone.
Doris followed the Lord Jesus Christ’s teachings and her life showed her dedication to the Lord.
Her parents, sisters Beverly and Alice Red Wolf, Martha and Edith Jack Rabbit; her brothers Robert and Thomas Red Wolf; and adopted son DJ Round Face preceded Doris in death.
Survivors include her sons Robert, Richard and Johnny Old Coyote, and Meinrod Black Hawk; her daughters Shawna and Dawn Black Hawk; her brother Newton Old Crow Jr.; her grandchildren Robert, Evander, Jasmine, Sabastian, Tyrell, Kirsten and Thomas; and her great-grandchildren Neveah, Joniya, Jordyn, Lacy, Leandro and Nala.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Lodge Grass Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
