Leo Marvin Elhard

Leo Marvin Elhard, 89, passed away on June 16, 2017 at home in hospice care. 
 
Born on Aug. 31, 1927 in Burnstad, N.D. to August and Martha Elhard, Leo was the eldest of five children. 
 
By 1933, the Dust Bowl forced their growing family west into Montana, where they settled near Crow Agency. In 1950, Leo was drafted into the Army until he was discharged from active duty in June 1951 to support his family, where he continued farming for the rest of his life. Leo was honored for his lifetime achievement and was awarded “The Chamber Farm Award” for 2013.
 
Leo married Rose Marie Nepper in 1952, was married for 35 years and raised a family of six children. After being widowed, he married Betty Lucille Reeves and was married 28 years prior to his passing. 
 
Leo valued his faith by serving the Lord and his family. He was an active member of the Church of God in Crow Agency and a founding member of The GateWay Christian Center north of Hardin.  Leo was also a valued member of The Gideons International for several years. 
 
He is preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Rose Nepper Elhard, his grandson K.C. Elhard and son-in-law Leroy Moore. 
 
He is survived by his four sisters and their families; his wife Betty Elhard, her two sons and their families; and his six children and their families, including nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at the “Spirit of Life” Foursquare Church in Crow Agency.
