Three Bulldogs place in five events at state

Keaunna Mason takes first place in shot put
Keaunna Mason is the Class A state champ in the shot put after tossing it 39-4.5 in Laurel last weekend. Mason threw it over a foot longer then her nearest opponent from Columbia Falls.
For Mason, it has been quite a year. She is not only a state champion, but she also set a new benchmark by breaking the school record. Mason will have a chance to repeat her accomplishments next year when she returns as an HHS senior.
Mason also placed third in  javelin with a throw of 116-3.
The only other Lady Bulldog to place was Mikayla Jefferson, who took home sixth place in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.33.
In boy’s action, Stephen Not Afraid placed in two events. In the 200-meter, he took second place  with a time of 22.54, losing out to a Corvallis runner by seven one-hundreds of a second, and ran to a third place finish in the 100-meter with a time of 11.2, losing by five one-hundreds of a second for first place. It was a virtual tie between Not Afraid and the second place runner.
Head Coach Laura Sundheim pointed out Jalen Two Leggins who, while not placing, ran his personal best time in the 800-meter with a 2:02.
Both the girls and boys short relay teams ran the 400-meter relay for personal best times and the boys also ran the 1,600-meter relay to a personal best time.
